Our vision and our approach

vISION

By 2035, all conservation sites managed by MAZAVA-NATURE will have become models of an effective integrated management approach for the sustainable conservation of biodiversity and the promotion of viable, environmentally sound local value chains for the benefit of local communities.

Approach

To achieve its mission, MAZAVA-NATURE prioritizes collaboration with local communities and partners in enhancing ecosystem services and promoting eco-innovative product marketing. A large proportion of the collective benefits generated by investments is reinvested in biodiversity conservation.

Intervention Areas

Currently, MAZAVA-NATURE operates in the Pointe à Larrée Peninsula. In 2026, it plans to expand its activities to the Bezavona Forest.

OUR SITES

Pointe à Larrée Protected Area

The Pointe à Larrée Protected Area is located between the rural communes of Manompana and Antanifotsy, in the Soanierana-Ivongo District, Analanjirofo Region. This unique ecosystem represents one of the largest remnants of Madagascar’s coastal forest (humid forest on ancient sand dunes), covering an area of 770 hectares managed as a Protected Area. The buffer zone, covering 2,100 hectares, is managed by local communities organized within a federation of associations

Bezavona Forest

The Bezavona Forest, located in the rural communes of Marotandrano and Antanambaon'Amberina, in the Mandritsara District, Sofia Region, was recently the subject of a reconnaissance mission. This mission highlighted the forest’s critical importance and emphasized the urgency of its integration into Madagascar’s network of Protected Areas
